About Us
The Directorate of Reserves (D Res) is responsible to the Chief of Reserves and Cadets (C Res and Cdts) through the Director General Reserves and Cadets (DGRC) to gather and analyse information on Reserve issues in order to enable C Res and Cdts to effectively advise the CDS. D Res reports through DGRC, advising on development and implementation of the policies that affect the Reserves.
Our Mission
The four-fold mission of D Res is to:
- Enable C Res and Cdts to serve as an effective and credible advisor to the CDS;
- Advise and support C Res and Cdts in the formulation and implementation of Reserve policy;
- Provide assistance to the environmental commands on Reserve issues; and
- Work within the NDHQ structure in the furtherance of Reserve issues.
Our Vision
D Res seeks to achieve a balanced total force integration that strengthens the CF ability to achieve its objectives.
This vision incorporates:
- A full integration of P Res personnel into combat-ready, general purpose forces that are responsive, flexible, well-trained, and properly equipped;
- A results oriented, accountable, and cost-effective Reserve force that optimizes use of resources;
- An innovative, adaptive and progressive Reserve Force, firmly rooted in the local community with the values of both Canadian society and military ethos; and
- A Reserve Force committed to enhancing the quality of life of its members, and fostering professional development and equality.
