UNIVERITY PROGRAM FOR PRIMARY RESERVE MEMBERS (UPPRM)
- WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE
PROGRAM?
Primary Reservists who are on effective strength at a Reserve unit on Class "A" terms of service and who meet the academic qualifications at the Royal Military College (RMC) or Le Collège Militaire Royal du Canada (CMRSJ) in St-Jean are eligible for the program. - HOW MANY POSITIONS ARE
AVAILABLE AT RMC OR CMRSJ?
The number of non-residency positions available will vary from year to year although up to 200 spaces may be available. Acceptance into RMC or CMRSJ under the University Program for Primary Reservists will be on the first come, first serve basis. - WHAT ACADEMIC PROGRAMS ARE
AVAILABLE?
Primary Reservists may apply for undergraduate or post-graduate academic programs.
Applications are considered on a case by case basis. - DO I HAVE TO MOVE TO STUDY AT
RMC OR CMRSJ?
Yes. To study at RMC or CMRSJ as part of the University Program for Primary Reservists, you must live within commuting distance of either campus. - WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO A
RESIDENCE AT THE COLLEGE?
Applicants to the University Program for Primary Reservists are responsible for finding and maintaining a residence within commuting distance of either RMC or CMRSJ. Applicants will not have access to residences at RMC or CMRSJ. - CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE
SPORTS PROGRAM AT THE COLLEGE?
No. As a non-resident, you are not eligible to participate in the leadership, language or fitness programs required of residents at RMC. You should, however, be able to request access to the gymnasium to pursue your own fitness program. - WILL I BE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY
BENEFITS UNDER THE PROGRAM?
A Primary Reservist studying at RMC or CMRSJ as part of the University Program for Primary Reserve Members may make claims under the Education Reimbursement Program. More information about reimbursement. - I AM CURRENTLY STUDYING AT
ANOTHER UNIVERSITY. CAN I TRANSFER TO RMC OR CMRSJ?
Yes. You may apply for a transfer to either RMC or CMRSJ under the University Program for Primary Reservists as long as you meet the eligibility requirements of the Program. - HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE
PROGRAM?
The first thing you need to do is to notify your chain of command of your intention to seek admission to RMC or CMRSJ. A recommendation letter from your commanding officer must accompany your application. - HOW WILL I KNOW IF I HAVE
BEEN ACCEPTED?
RMC will consider each applicant based on space availability and academic merit. RMC will notify each applicant as to whether they have been accepted or rejected for studies.
