General Safety Training and Professional Development

It is DND/CF Policy to maintain a program of general safety which ensures that safety considerations are incorporated in every aspect of DND/CF operations, training and support activities, and to require that all personnel participate in and support the program, in compliance with the Canada Labour Code. [...] The General Safety Program is structured on the principle that everyone has some responsibility for safety. The responsibility for implementing and controlling accident prevention measures to reduce and maintain accident rates at a minimum rests with commanders in all echelons of the line organization assisted, where they exist, by GSOs and occupational Heal th and Safety representatives or workplace committees. To this end, it is necessary to recognize that it is essential to train all personnel to work safely and that they have a definite responsibility to do so. (Ref: General Safety Training Program, Chapter 1. A-GG-040-003/AG-001).
